JULIE HARVEY

I am a freelance retouch artist, web and graphic designer with a love of beautiful imagery, design and photoshop. As a child I remember seeing an exquisite closeup image of a penguin in a large Readers Digest book. The image was almost life-size and the detail of the feathers was incredible, I was drawn into the image, enough to stroke the page and almost stop time. There are not many images or designs I can recall holding my attention like that, but when you find them or help create them, it is quite magical.

Since then I have worked on a diverse range of projects including websites, book design, packaging, point of sale, logo design and branding. For eight years I had the pleasure of working part-time with award winning photographer Lester de Vere, retouching family portraits and beautiful glamour shots. Before freelancing, I worked at TVNZ as a web designer, designing mini sites and interactive elements, training producers in photoshop and creating online advertising for TV ONE, TV2, ONE News and a variety of TV programmes. While living in the UK between travel adventures, I temped for advertising agencies, design and display companies working on brands such as Coca-Cola and Cable & Wireless. Prior to my OE, I lived in Wellington and worked in the professional photographic industry where the majority of work was retouching, film output and display preparation.

Now I am based in Auckland and in my spare time I enjoy reading, making healthy food, ceroc dancing, yoga, cryptic crosswords, long walks and spending quality time with my nieces and nephew. Other areas of interest to me are health, the environment, education, social, personal development and tourism.
If you share the same values of quality and integrity as I do and would like to discuss how I can help with your latest project, please contact me.
